Tui Brewery, Mangatainoka

Hospitality Manager 

Get better work stories!  We are looking for talented Hospitality Manager to lead our dynamic Front of House team at Tui Brewery in Mangatainoka.

The Tui Brewery is a national icon, located in Mangatainoka in Tararua. We have a café, bar, museum, retail shop, brewery (and brewery tours), large conference and events spaces. We have a team of 12 people and around 25,000 visitors per year. Tui Brewery is run by The Experience Collective Ltd  (TEC), who run two other hospitality and tourism venues. 

About the role:

  • Permanent, full-time,
  • Tuesday – Saturday
  • Some evenings work for functions and events
  • Leading the FOH team and supporting the Kitchen Manager
  • Work alongside our team and motivate them to deliver results
  • Rostering, event planning, managing supplier relationships, profit and loss reporting, manage wage and bar costs, team development, training, recruitment support

Skills and experience you’ll need:

  • Team leadership/management experience, essential
  • Hospitality and / or tourism experience, preferred
  • Experience in business management, preferred
  • LCQ/Bar Managers Certificate, preferred
  • Supportive of a culture of teamwork
  • A people person who enjoys inspiring a team
  • Strong leadership skills and great communication skills
  • Passion for hospitality
  • Be keen to take brewery tours (full training provided)
  • Keen to learn and grow
  • Problem solver with strong attention to detail
  • Reliable and honest

Kitchen Support Superstars

Get better work stories!  We are looking for talented Kitchen 2IC to join our kitchen team at Tui Brewery in Mangatainoka Tararua, in a part-time position.

About the Role: 

  • Part-time – minimum 15 hours per week
  • Usually a Sunday/Monday/Tuesday
  • Increased hours during summer – (Oct – April)
  • Includes some weekends and evenings to support functions and events
  • Primary Responsibilities
    • Lead Kitchen Team in absence of Kitchen Manager
    • Cutting, preparing, storing, and washing food for service
    • Assisting with stock takes and stock rotation
    • Assist with plating dishes when required
    • Ensure food orders are serviced to a high standard
    • Supporting Front of House Team if required eg. food delivery
    • Following recipes correctly
    • Follow Health and Safety practices

You will assist (and sometimes lead) the kitchen team in driving our kitchen in an awesome family of driven people who love to provide excellent hospitality.

Skills and experience you’ll need:

  • Experience working in hospitality preferred
  • Kitchen and cooking experience preferred
  • Be able to follow instructions
  • A can-do attitude and a good dose of positive energy
  • Ability to have fun!
  • Strong leadership and a great communicator
  • Passion for food
  • Keen to grow and learn

Sous Chef

We are on the lookout for a new member to join our kitchen team as a full-time Sous Chef. An opportunity that will set your career up! We’re open to different levels of experience, so let’s chat! 

Reporting to our Head Chef, you will support the delivery of a standard of excellence in the kitchen operation through service and hospitality practices and procedures. Working together with a vibrant, high-performing and committed team – your workday is sure to be interesting and varied. This role does include weekend and night hours and minimum of 40 hours per week. 

We’re looking for someone who has: 

  • The ability to self-manage;
  • The ability to work under pressure and in a fast-paced environment;
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal;
  • Experience in running a kitchen service;
  • An aptitude for working as part of a team.
  • Eye for detail
